AAA has brought back their Tow-To-Go service for the long Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Starting Wednesday November 23rd at 6pm, and running through 6am Monday morning, members and non-members alike can use the program to get a person and their vehicle home if they’ve had too much to drink.
As always there are certain conditions with the program:
The agency stresses that it should be used as a last resort. The service is only available to ONE person and their vehicle, so multiple people can’t use it as a taxi service.
A tow truck will take the impaired driver and their vehicle home or to a safe location, as long as it is within a 10-mile radius of where they were picked up.
The program operates throughout Florida, among other states, but may not be available in some rural areas, or in the possible event of bad weather.
The AAA Tow-To-Go number to call is 855-2-TOW-2-GO, or 855-286-9246.
And finally you cannot make appointments in advance to schedule a ride home, as this is to be a last resort only ride. And there’s no guarantee there will be a truck available since this is a very popular program around busy holidays. So you may have to leave your car and find another ride after all. So try to plan a safe ride in advance of your party, but keep this number handy in case its necessary.
